kickoff
We will spend our first meeting discussing the initial concept and brainstorm ideas with regards to creative goals and thematic consistency. In doing so, we will have a foundation from which to discuss the project’s timeline, budget, and overall scope.
Questions like "do we need a live choir for this piece?" or "maybe we should get the London Philharmonic to perform this section?" are all valid questions.
Afterwards, you'll receive a proposal that covers all these details.
raw materials
Once we have a good idea of the general direction of the project, We will begin to develop the ‘color palette’ of the film. This usually includes gathering and discussing reference songs, non-auditory materials, etc., to get an idea of the vibe and feeling we are going for and which elements matter the most.
In this phase, it is important for me to gain a comprehensive understanding of your taste, preferences, and hopefully, intuition.
If you require the deliverable to be more precisely like the reference piece in some way or another (e.g., same instrumentation, arrangement, or mixing) rather than a creative interpretation of it, then that requirement should be made explicit in the project brief. Otherwise, I will default to a creative interpretation of the raw materials.

You don’t have to worry about forgetting what you said during that one meeting a few months ago.
I keep a running record of all our meetings, who said what and when, the changes you requested and the changes that I implement. This way, we will always be on the same page about the agreements we made and where we are headed.
